Efficacy of Intra-articular Injection of Simvastatin in Treatment of Internal Derangement of Temporomandibular Joint.

ABSTRACTIntroduction :ID management is one of challenges in maxillofacial filed. Almost80% adult symptomatic patients with TMD have some form ID (1). Data fromrelated literature has suggested that arthrocentesis may be benefit to managesymptoms TMDs. Such a technique was first introduced for the ofsudden onset closed lockAim : This study aimed evaluate efficacy simvastatin intra-articular injectionin internal derangement (ID) temporomandibular joint ( TMJ).Patients and methods: 15 TMJ were included thisstudy. All subjected preoperative clinical examination preoperativemagnetic resonance imaging (MRI) affected joints. The joints treatedwith followed by injection 1ml. twice amonth. Clinical follow up done at 24 hours post- operatively, week, monthand six months. Then, after months MRI repeated compare preoperativeimages. Results: Patients showed better results comparison preoperativeparameters 1 4 weeks intervals. findings incomparison where position disc almost returned toits normal anatomical position. Conclusion: Simvastatin afterarthrocentesis
